    Please join the SEA Charlotte Chapter for our meeting on Wednesday, the 20th of February.  

    Please note the change in venue. This meeting will be help at Dillworth Neighborhood Grille (parking is free). 

    The meeting is free for members or applicants with membership form/dues and $10.00 for nonmembers.  Please make your reservation by 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 19th.  RSVP by clicking the "Register Now" link.  Members will login to the website and register and nonmenbers can register by clicking "Continue as Guest".  Nonmembers can either pay through the website with a credit card or can click "bypass payment" during the registration process and bring a check to the meeting made out to "SEA Charlotte". 


    “Production and Applications of Structural Lightweight Aggregate.” A look at how structural lightweight aggregate is manufactured, some of the standards that govern design with lightweight concrete, and some of the applications including buildings, bridges and geotechnical applications. 

    Speaker: Kenneth S. Harmon, P.E. 

    Ken Harmon is the Director of Engineering Resources for STALITE Lightweight Aggregate Company.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and is a member of ACI, ASCE, AREMA and is Past Secretary of ASTM Subcommittee C09.21 Lightweight Aggregates and Concrete.  He is Chairman of the Expanded Shale, Clay and Slate Institute (ESCSI) Structural Committee.   Ken was the Concrete Promotion Engineer for the Georgia Concrete & Products Association from 1987 – 1993, and was a bridge design engineer in the HNTB Atlanta Office 1979 – 1987.  He has authored papers for numerous conferences and symposiums including ACI, PCI, CANMET/ACI, ECI, etc.
